You can apply through the official VA HPSP site (linked below). If nursing isn’t currently listed, check back after the next agency update — they re-open applications periodically. I always post updates when it’s open again.
Yes! VA employees can apply, but note that you won’t receive the monthly living stipend. You’ll still get the annual book stipend (currently $1,320).
Unfortunately, VA HPSP and Nurse Corps are limited to U.S. citizens or naturalized citizens. Green Card or Resident Alien status doesn’t qualify for these programs.
The VA HPSP covers tuition for nursing students who agree to work for the VA after graduation. Nurse Corps offers scholarships for students who commit to serving in underserved areas. Both are competitive and rewarding.
